Sam and Joey Reborn

Hee, I'm so happy with this~

I've been in an art slump for quite a while now. I've done some doodles here and there but nothing colored for a long time. One of the things I've been wanting to draw for a long time was a full-body reference for Sam's new design. I've had her new design in my head for the longest time, but never was able to get it down where I was happy with it. (I have several sketches in my folder of past failed attempts.) Tonight though, I finally got motivation to draw, and... ta-da~

Meet Samantha McPhoenix, and her Pikachu, Joey--new and improved!

Sam has been growing up with me ever since I came up with her... oh boy... about 16 years ago? She's gone through a lot of redesigns since then, but I'm pretty happy with this version of her, and have been for a while now. ^^

Name: Samantha McPhoenix
Age: 20
Height/Weight: 5'2" / about 95-100-ish lbs
Eye Color: green (I prefer it to be more jade green/hazel green, but for clarity in pictures I tend to go with a brighter green now)
Hair Color: brown (can be a lighter brown or even have a reddish tint too)

Outfit:
Sam wears a black, form-fitting tube top under a magenta-colored zip-up top, both of which expose her midriff area. She wears black pants that ride relatively low on her hips (can also wear blue jeans, but I prefer the black pants). Her boots are usually brown with black treads, but they can be all black as well.

She always wears two belts; the primary one holds a small pack on her waist while the second one hangs down to her right and usually carries her Pokeballs. She may wear either a pair of black fingerless gloves, or two black wristbands. If she wears the wristbands, she will also wear silver rings on her fingers--two on her right hand (index and ring fingers) and one on her left hand (middle finger). She wears a necklace with a teardrop-shaped red gemstone, symbolic of her affinity to Fire-types. She will ALWAYS wear a black armband around her upper left arm, to hide the scars there.

Sam wears rectangular glasses with pink lenses most of the time; they may appear to be sunglasses but are actually prescription lenses that correct for severe nearsightedness. These pink glasses are part of her "trainer persona"; however, she has been seen wearing clear lenses with more frequently lately. She rarely if ever wears contacts.

Other Features:
Sam has two sets of scars on her; two on her upper left arm (which she is in the habit of hiding with her armband), and two on her right hip. The ones on her arm are from a traumatic attack by a Golbat when she was 12. The ones on her hip are more recent, and came from an accidental Slash attack from Alexander's Persian. (It wasn't intentional, and both Alexander and the Pokemon were very upset about the whole thing. Sam has no ill-will about the incident.)

Joey
Joey was Sam's first Pokemon, and has shared many adventures with her. Though he still travels at her side most of the time, he is getting older for a Pikachu and thus has semi-retired from competitive battling. (This won't stop him from battling to protect Sam if necessary, of course!) The extra ruff around his neck is supposed to be something like a "beard" for Pikachus, and is indicative of him getting older.

I'm really happy about how this picture turned out. The coloring felt great to get back into as well. ^^

I hope some of you still remember this gal, and enjoy the new and improved version of her!
